gym won't refund subscription-advice?

Hi All,

i joined gymophobics this february, due to their machines causing back problems i found myself in a situation where i had to give up the gym. i read the contract and it said that i should provide a doctors note and only then will I have my contract terminated. so i provided a doctors note, stating that i was unable to carry on with the gym.

i cancelled my direct debit and waited to hear from the gym.

i started recieveing bailiff letters saying i owed various amounts and if i did not pay them i would have a visit from the bailiffs.

so, i checked it all out and went in numerous times to ask about my memebership. no one was available and I had to drag my mum with me just to get an answer out of them as they treated me like a child (im 23).

i had a phone call from the manager saying, my docors note is not valid as i would have to join one of their physios and not mine (on the nhs), in order for them to give me a medical note saying i cannot carry on with the gym.

I have not been to the gym since april and am paying £32 a month which i cannot do anything about, please can someone help me as i dont know how to stop this fee each month with out the bailiffs getting involved!
