    Hi,

I can't really say what other mp3 players are like but I have an ipod mini (less than 4gb). I like it a lot although I'm not really sure what happens when the battery starts to die :s

Docking stations with speakers aren't too cheap if you want a good quality one that doesnt sound too tinny.

My boss had the Bose one for an ipod and it sounded excellent...then I found out it cost £250. ouch!

Do you already have a hifi at home? If you do then maybe consider a docking thing that connects to the hifi? I bought one for my ipod on eBay for £25. Much better than £250.

i bought hubby a Creative Zen Micro for £132 from costco for 5GB - Sound is terrific - got dockig station speaker thingy from TKMaxx for a tenner. The price on boots is round about the same when you count points etc.

  • Yes, iPods are the best - both in terms of design and value - unless you need features such as live radio or audio recording, which some people are keen on.

Apple only makes two iPods with a capacity greater than 4Mb, though, so I'd recommend the £199 30Gb iPod video (note that this is overkill if you only want audio!). All iPods are in short supply this Xmas though.

The iPods also come with exhaustive accessory options. I'd recommend a look around a site like iLounge for good reviews.
