Is Allied Irish Bank in UK connected to HBOS

Recently I have been told by a member of staff of HBOS that Allied Irish Bank in uk is connected to HBOS, so under the compensation scheme, you would only be covered for £50,000 for both accoounts. Does anyone know if this is correct?
