washing machine gone . Started to wash and then gave up. Had engineer out he changed some part and working again :jthen it went again . Each time it blows the main 13amp fuse in the wall I guess its on a spur? It has its own socket and a switch that works it.
Anyway today i replaced the fuse in the wall with a 13amp only realising the fuse in the wall was a 5amp! Now homebase where i got the fuses from must have put a 5amp into the 13amp packet i bought! Is this the reason for the machine stopped working this time? It was literally 5 mins into wash. Would the 5amp of powered the machine in the first place? ie it wouldnt work unless a 13amp was used? Bit scared to try it again unless call the engineer to look at it
Any help appreciated.
Thanx

Most washing machines have a heater element to heat up the water to the required temperature for that wash cycle program. This is usually 2000W - 3000W heater element.
A 5 Amp fuse will only allow less than 1200W (5A x 240V) to be passed safely. Therefore if a 5A fuse is used, it is very likely it would get hot and melt when the heating element is in use.
A 13A fuse should definitely be fitted to a washing machine.
