Christmas Markets, anyone been?

I love cologne christmas markets and have been lots of times. I did a coach trip once and it was dreadful - took so long to get there and was more expensive than it would have been to fly! I can recommend Germanwings airline - really cheap flights from stansted to Cologne but seem really reliable. One year we did a day trip, early morning flight out to Cologne and late evening flight back. It cost about £40 each.
I've also done Brussells/Bruge christmas markets in the past using Eurostar but was a bit disappointed by them as they are tiny in comparison to Cologne.0 -

I fancy the car so I don't have to worry about weight & I'm not to far from the south coast anyway.
But its the weight issue really.0 -

er not if you plan and book early in July/August it isn't, which for the most popular weekend places you have to to get good prices.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Cologne (Koln) definately! I've been to Cologne a few times, but only once for the Christmas markets. The quality of the food and drink is the key. You really don't need to eat in the restaurants as the quality is so good. Wrap up warm, bring a brolly (just in case) and make a night of it wandering around drinking kolsh (cologne lager) or some great wines, whilst filling up on several courses of food.
A good hotel is the Sofitel Dorrint next to the Cathedral. They do some really good weekend rates and serve the best breakfasts in Germany.0 -
