I ordered bedroom furniture from above store because their catalogue clearly states delivery within seven days, asked salesman named Gerry to confirm Items were in stock and a delivery date he made a phone call and said they were available and guaranteed I would have them on the 17 of October I phoned on 16 October to check delivery time only to be told Items won’t be delivered as they don’t have them and have no Idea when they will and I should hear from them in 28 days Their customer services are useless. Phoned again and again and again for my money to be refunded Only to be told they keep 20% as I have cancelled the order an order they can’t supply NEXT STEP OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING they are well known to them.

Maybe you should do something similar to what this lady did with MFI- there's nothing like a bit of negative national press to get a company to finally take action:

I may just do that but take my own bed as ive read there beds are rubbish and have parts missing, Many thanks0

Oo. How odd. Something very similar happpened to a friend of mine. She bought a bed and arranged delivery. She even got a confirmation card thing saying between the times it would be delivered.
On the day they didn't arrive. She called them and was told they NEVER deliver between the times on the card (a printed card from DREAMS, mind you - picked up from the store at the time of purchase...and written on by the DREAMS member of staff!). Customer service (trade description act?) told my friend that the card had the times printed incorrectly.
she was charged the same fee for redelivery as she had to cancel the delivery as she wasn't going to be in 5 hrs later
I was quite astounded!
Quite awful. :eek:0 -
Because you stipluated the delivery date when you bought the item, it means that the delivery time/date became part of the contract between yourself and the company. Therefore you are entitle to a full refund without any deduction. The company is acting illegally in attempting to hold on to 20%. I would write to them, detailing what I've told you and informing them that if the full amount was not received within 7 days from the date of the letter, that you will start proceedings in the small claim court in order to recover all of the monies, plus the costs associated with the administration of the court proceedings.0

Hello
I ordered a bunk bed from Dreams, which I subseqwuently cancelled as found a better one in Ikea. When I rang them to cancel, I was told would only receive a credit note, not a refund!
Wrote to Dreams to complain, I accept that 20% cancellation fee applied, but said nothing on paperwork about refund being in form of a credit note.
Anyway, I then got a letter from Dreams about 2 weeks later apologising as the bed was not currently in stock and would contact me as soon as possible to arrange delivery!
I rang Dreams to tell them the bed was already cancelled and that a letter had been sent to head office complaining about intention to refund me with a credit note. The lady I spoke to went away for few minutes, apologised, and said not to worry as because the bed was out of stock anyway, I could cancel it without penalty!!
So... if the bed was initially in stock, then they have told you it is not, then the onus is on them, and you have the right to cancel without penalty,
(I agree... Dreams are bl00dy awful!)0 -
Hopefully people will read this and we might save someone a lot of hassle

There's been a view posts about Dreams on the Consumer Action Group website you may like to view. Could be worth starting a thread there as well for advice?
