all good points, but why don't ebay let you choose the feedback level you require from bidders? i.e no bidders with under 50 (i know, excessive) feedback, or no bidders with less than 90% positive, or a combination of both

i'm now selling my 360 on a 3 day listing, and am totally paranoid that it will be scuppered by some childish git with a grudge because he didn't have the foresight to pre order.

    grrrr!

oh, and i don't think ebay is helping with signing up to all these cashback sites-it's just encouraging people to make stupid bids on everything just to make themselves money.

i think ebay will start to lose serious custom if this trend continues, but at the moment i can't see any viable alternatives, at least in the uk.

Cos all sellers would set the feedback needed to above 0, and no new customers would be able to use eBay!

    ok, fair point.

how about for all new ebayers, their first 25 or so transactions would build them up to 100% i.e 4% for each positive. then ebay could just include an option to ban buyer with below a set level for new ebayers i.e less than 50%

    i think that makes sense

You'd have the same problem. If all sellers banned buyers below 50%, then all new eBayers wouldn't be able to bid on anything.

yeah, but not all sellers would choose to, particularly for those selling items of low value

I don't think buyers would appreciate being effectively forced to buy loads of random items they don't necessarily want just so they could bid on the thing they actually really wanted.

I sell a lot of low priced items, and I already get people buying from me, then asking me not to send them the item as all they are after is quick feedback. So it would be easy for scammers to circumvent such restrictions, and like you say, be a pain in the :xmassign: for genune buyers.

Good luck - think the prices are coming way down now as shops get them. Has to relist mine a few times and it finally went an hour ago for £215!!

By the time i take off paypal and ebay fee's i'm left with £5 less than i paid for it! Only listed it as thought it would be easier than returning to argos
