U.K.Passport Control.

When one`s passport is scanned on entry to the U.K the immigration officer`s monitor displays information. But what information is displayed? Is it simply big brother watching?

Have you got something to worry about?

Or are you thinking that passport control viewing the status of your alleged citizenship is somehow infringing on your rights?

The info scanned from your passport is logged and sent to the DWP and HMRC, to ensure you arent claiming to much benefits or ot paying enough tax, after all if you can afford multiple international trips then you must have a few bob.

Also a sweat swab is taken from your passport and this is then logged on a DNA database which means if you drop a kebab on a saturday night out the spit on your pitta can be analysed and you will get plod knocking on your door at 3.00 am to arrest you.

Also when you arrive back into the country the "border agency" chap or chap'ess can warn his mate whos a house burglar that you are on your way home and to make its quick on his toes.

Oooh and also the same DNA analysis will also be able to tell which cleaning products or personal hygiene problems you use this info can then be passed on to tescos and sainsburys so they can send you details about upcoming offers on the items you use.

So there is no truth in the rumour that ones passport contains ones Marital status and should traces of condom lubricant be detected on ones passport during the swabbing process when one is traveling alone, ones good lady is alerted? :D

The one in the states brings up a big red banner if someone with a similar name and birth date has been refused entry or deported -
It happened to me and I got escorted to a seperate area to sort it out, thankfully it only took 15 mins and was scary as hell but it is a regular happening according to the border people who dealt with me.
The odd thing is I had travelled through the same airport in transit 5 days earlier and was coming back in transit again when it triggered it. The states is a regular destination and transit hub for me when I travel and it has not happened before or since.

The bottom line of machine readable data on your passport is called an mrz and contains 3 check digits, one of the functions is to make sure these 3 digits are correct, they are a mathematical equation of the passport number, date of birth and date of expiry. It is very hard for fraudsters to emmulate this. Also when leaving the uk when your passport is scanned a credit check is performed- this has nothing to do with debt or borrowing, but people travelling on false documentation/idenitys genrally will not have a credit record. Nothing will be said at the time, however the person will be monitored closely thruout there time in the airport via cctv and first person. Next time you are in an airport lookout for all the one way windows that seem to be everywhere- thay are there for a reason.
