I have to agree with the "dont go mental" thing.
Though I'm not an expert, its obvious that paying top dollar for top hardware which will be mediocre in six months time anyway doesnt make much sense, particularly when buying somethin upper-middle range costs 50% but gives you 80% of the performance....

You don't have to go overboard, but there certainly is appeal in being able to run games at the very highest details. Like anything, you pay the premium to be the first adopters of it.
Don't want to spend a lot - Nvidia 8800GT
Don't mind spending a bit more - ATI Radeon HD 4850

I also agree what you buy this week will be out of date by next week and something even bigger priced and better will be sat on the shelf instead...its nuts but its also life in the digital world...don't go mad...be sensible in what price range you want to go for and stick to it...:D
