Orange and the Livebox

Trying to help my friend sort his livebox out. All of a sudden, after downloading an XP update, it stopped connecting to the laptop. I have fully reset the livebox twice and it will still not connect to the internet. It comes up with a message of "low or no connection" available, however the signal strength is still high. Someone has told us to do a full new installation of Xp from the original discs and someone else has also told us to take it to PC World and replace the card inside the laptop. On the laptop it states that wireless is "on".

Any help would be appreciated, or has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks

Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI

It's not as simple as going to PC World and replacing the card in the laptop unless it's a USB or PCMCIA one.
