Lost D & E drives

I've seen the answer somewhere but czn't find it.
I've lost my D & E drives (DVD & CD). They are not there in my computer. Looking at the hardwear devices etc they show as no drivers loaded.

was there a recent update that caused this or how do i get them back.

I'm on windows Home edition sp3

If you go into device manager and right click the respective drives, and then find the option to uninstall, when you next reboot, your pc should re-install them. That is what happened to me anyway and how I resolved it a few months back. Try one at a time though.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.
