Hi,
I have opened a Lloyds Classic account, got the Debit card and also the Internet savings account, but got a letter today saying that they could not issue a cheque book at the moment but would regularly review the account and I might be eligible in the future, but do I really need one as I have one on my A&L account and rarely use it !, but I will be putting £50,000 into Lloyds soon so I don't know if that will up my chances of getting one.

£50,000? You realise that some places would give you far more than a basic current account if you invested that with them, right?0

Hi,
The £50,000 was going into the Internet savings account which pays 5%, the classic account was just a means to get it to and from there, as I already hold a A&L account with a cheque book.
And no reasons given other than just at the moment, but that could change if I got regular credits going in, or this lump sum in the savings account.0 -
Try another bank and advise them that you will be paying 50k in and see what they say. HSBC seem to be good at not losing money. ask them!0

As sutton111 suggests, £50,000 saved with HSBC would entitle you to their Premier service, a form of private banking. You get a relationship manager who can authorise lending for you and deal with queries about your account, who you can ring directly if you have any problems.
Sure it still sounds good?0 -

I find the plus with lloyds over A&L is lloyds internet banking is far supirior also that bacs payments are usually available to withdraw around 11 pm the day before ie due thursday in 11pm wednesday night. Also there Save the change when you use visa debit card.0
