Need advice on how/where to buy diamond earrings

As much as I Lurrvveee presents, Fit_Like to quite right, I would rather see my man
Thank you all who post.0 -
You would be better to send her the cash to buy them herself as you risk them being lost and also she would have to pay customs to get them. This would be about 20% of their value. I used to live in Canada and they are quite strict about this. I paid quite a lot to customs during my 2 years there.
Maybe you could send her an IOU shopping trip for them next time you see her if you prefer.
Just had a thought why don't you look at some Canadian websites buy online and have them sent to her?:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Thanks for all the help and advice.
However, firstly, the reason I'm not going over is because she has made some plans with her friends over there, plus she thinks it will make the whole thing harder if I go over (it's a long story...!)
Secondly, although cash is a logical solution, it's not really the same as having a present to open and be surprised by on Christmas day. It is useful to be aware of the customs things though.
Thirdly, I don't want to buy online as there's no guarantee that the item you see on the screen will be the same and there is more potential for dodgyness.
Also, I'm not really looking for HSamuel type jewellery - I can go a fair bit higher budget-wise than that.
Anyway, thanks for all the help!0 -
Look don't knock H Samuel until you have tried them...yes whilst they do the cheap everyday stuff, they also do the very high end diamond earrings which are quite pricy and very highly rated if you can afford it.

My girlfriend is away in Canada just now studying (she's been away since August and isn't back until May). Unfortunately she isn't coming back at Christmas and it's looking like I won't see her until April. For the first time in a while I've got some spare cash so want to send her something really special for Christmas.
Sorry, I just can't think of this as a coincidence

If you live anywhere near London, i'd recommend Rocks of Radlett (think they also have a branch in hatton garden)
BTW.. you do not need good diamonds for earings. Make sure you negotiate!0 -
Go to a second hand jewellers. I saw some fantastic certified diamond stud earings at one in Nottingham - they were priced at £3,000 but the same thing new in a shop would be £6,000. They had other loads of other qualities down to about £500.

Depending on where you live it would definitely be worth a trip to Birmingham Jewellry Quater.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.
