ATM Charges in France

My daughter opened a Nationwide Debit Account as it claimed no charges are made for withdrawals abroad; she is off to France for a year so this idea looked good.
Unfortunately, whereas Nationwide don't seem to be making charges on ATM withdrawals, she is being charged by the ATM provider in France.
My question is, -"Are there an ATM providers in France who allow free withdrawals or do they all charge fro the service?"
Thanks for any help.

I have never yet been charged by an ATM in France., Spain yes but never in France. Is your daughter using one at any of the big banks out there IE Credit Agricole, Societe Generale etc?
Take a look and use search in this MSE forum http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=28 to see if anyone else has had the same experience as your daughter. It may be something new that I am not aware of.0 -
I'll check that out with her again, VB, but she seems to think she's being charged and she reckons it can't be Nationwide as they specifically advertise "no charges".
Thanks for your early reply; as I say, I'll check it out again.

I've used my Nationwide card in France, Belgium, and Holland, over the last few years, and never been charged for any withdrawal. I've withdrawn from most banks, never shops or other outlets though, as sometines these have their own charges.0

Caffey,
Your daughter is right, NBS do not charge for card withdrawals so it must be the French bank.0 -
Nationwide definitely don't charge anything for international cash withdrawals on their Flexaccount. Is it a separate charge being added or a "load" on the exchange rate?0
