EXACT name when adding Paypal bank account

Hi,
I want to add a bank account to my Paypal account. It says that you should: "Enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account statement. If the names do not match exactly, the transfer will fail and a return fee will be charged".
However, on the form to enter the bank details there is only an entry for "First name" and "Last name". So if my registered bank name is, for example: Mr John C Smith, how would I enter this on the Paypal form?
Do I just put my first name as "John"?... or "John C", "Mr John C", "Mr John" (??!).
I really don't want to get it wrong and then be charged a fee, so if anyone knows the correct way to input the name I'd really appreciate your help.
Thanks a lot.

I went to state it exactly as it is on any statement addressed to me. Literally the same, even though the initial the first part of my double barralled sir name and have my middle name in full. It looks daft, but its what they ask.
I would advise doing it the way they have asked you to as if it does fail, you can argue that you simply followed what they asked you to and its therefor their error not yours.
Hope that helps?!0 -

).
I think I will just put my first and last name because that's what they ask for after all, although the "exactly as it appears on your bank statement" bit makes it pretty confusing as it doesn't take into account your title, middle initial, etc, when you just have a box for "first name" and another for "last name".
Anyway, I'm guessing that as long as the surname and the other bank details are correct then it should be okay (hopefully...).
But if anyone else knows the exact, correct way to enter these details (I'm sure most people on this board must have a Paypal account?) then I'd really appreciate any clarification before I do it.

Well if I say for an example, my name is Jennie Sarah Williams Brand (its not, I just made that up, but the format is similar) and on my statement and card the bank have decided to call me "Jennie Sarah W B" so on paypal I have written exactly that, "Jennie Sarah W B" despite it looking odd. Its what they asked for...
I have also added an additional card (I changed banks) and the name again was listed slightly differently to how it is in real life, this time the bank have decided I am "Jennifer S Williams B" so again, this is what I have put into paypal. I have not had any problems with doing it this way.
I wish banks would stop space saving! its so annoying!0 -

So... did you write "Jennie Sarah" in the first name box and "W B" in the second name box?
Sorry for so many questions, I'm just really paranoid about getting hit with a fee for a simple error after only just getting myself out of debt. I've emailed Paypal to ask them what is the correct way to enter the details but don't expect a reply for at least a week .
But based on what you've said, I think I should enter my name in the format:
First name: "Joe C"
Second name: "Bloggs"
Because that's how it is on my bank statement.
Cheers again.0 -
Yup, just like that, my first name and my middle name become all the first name and my sirname becomes W B.
Its literally just as your bankstatement says, letter for letter. Thats what I did anyway, it seems to have worked out fine as money goes too and from paypal fine!
Its the details for the specific bank account ,-right? just that paypal also have their own account details for you that are not the same a your bank details (have nothing to do with your bank details) they are the detials you inout when you first register. There you can out your whole name down.
Each time you add an additional bank account, you have to reput your name as it is stated on your bank statement for that bank. As I have found, each bank can call you whatever they want so the name for each bank account may well vary (if you ever do get more then one).
Just didn't want you to get confused with paypals details for you and paypals bank details for you.0 -
Hi,
I have mispelled my name on paypal I added and extra n by mistake, so instead of saying Lyn (which is the correct spelling) it says Lynn. I also transferred funds from my paypal to my Natwest bank before I realised. Does anyone know if this small mistake will stop my money going into my bank?
Thanks

To be honest I think that as long as the bank account details are correct there shouldn't be a problem.
I think PayPal try to sound strict with the name business so people don't try and register Paypal accounts in false names.

it tends to be your sir name they worry about: eg my first name is jennie, but its specified as either jennifer or jenny elsewhere. Its never affected any payment, so long as the sirname is accurate, the banks tend to over look it as a shortened name or a spelling mistake.0
