Greyish teatowels

I have a collection of teatowels which still have life in them but look grey and grotty. I usually give them a quick handwash on a daily basis but would I be better putting them on a hotwash in the washing machine? Or is there any other way I can clean them up and get rid of a slightly ingrained greasy smell?

Use biological soap powder or tablets (not liquid), and put on a 60c wash - obviously don't use colour soap powder, either.
Find some white cottons, or anything white that will take a 60c wash, and bung them in too. Might be an idea to add a dash of bleach or a scoop of Oxy from the pound shop, if they're really pitted.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
You can use all the fancy washing powders in the world, but nothing shifts grease like good hot water. You could put them through a hot wash in the machine, but just getting a big pan of water and boiling them on the hob, would use less water and power.0
