Just a quickie - if I may!!!

Hi there,

I made a payment on a credit card last month - in Tesco. I have recieved my latest bill and there is no record of the payment. I still have the reciept, it was for my weekly shop so it definitely happened. How long can it take for them to apply the charge to my card??

Does anyone know??

many thanks

  • That does seem strange. Payments are normally took on the same day, with it showing up on your account a couple of days after. By the sounds of it you've received your shopping for free. But don't quote me on that.

I think it is normally the same day, but i've heard reports that legally they have six months... some reports say six years.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
  • Hi Lizzybop, I wouldn't worry too much about it just yet. You might find that this payment is applied to your next month's bill, if your current bill had already been generated before you made the payment on your card then it wouldn't show up. Wait until next month's one comes through, and if it's not on there, and your concience is wrestling with you about it, then get in touch with them.

Alternatively, you can manage your Tesco CC online, this'll show you what payments you've charged to your card, where and when. This is definitely my favourite way of staying on top of my finances.

    six YEARS !!!!!

    blimey!!

I guess I'll hold on to the money for a while and if it comes through then at least I've got the means to pay it. I thought I'd heard 6 months - or was that in relation to cheques??

    Thanks Purplelisa,

It's not a Tesco CC the payment was made in Tesco, and it was on 6th October whereas my bill date is 26th of the month, so I can't see that it would have crossed over!!!

I'm afraid I'm a little bit anal (am I allowed to use such language??) when it comes to my credit cards. Always noting all my payments throughout the month and having the funds to clear the full amount. So I guess I'll hold to all £35.52 of it and wait and see. :D

It's either 120 or 180 days (not sure which) and your credit card company will call it "late presentment", so best give them a call and see.

If they were to present for payment after the legal timeframe, you can ask for the transaction to be reversed.

    Thanks ICantStandIt,

I'll give my credit card company a call just to check.
