Hi,

Can anyone recommend a van hire price comparison site?

I'm looking to hire a van for 1-2 days as I'm moving flat.

Thanks.

What you might find, once you start looking, is pretty much similar prices, from the bigger names - most will actually NOT have their own vans, but just be an agency & order one in for you.

Check http://www.practical.co.uk/ if they have a branch near you - it's a franchise operation mostly, so possibly abit cheaper.

What you might also consider, to save some work & £$£$£, plus giving you another pair of hands, is any of the Man With a Van adverts, in the local paper.

& do remember to de-clutter & put all the stuff you won't need, onto Freecycle, before you move!!

  • i found the price you got quoted was pretty irrelevant to what you would end up paying, all the places i tried had crap opening times meaning you had to hire it for more than you needed

    how far are you moving?

I should have made it clear that I'm moving from the Midlands to Southampton, so quite a distance. Thank you for the replies so far (I will thank you formally on the forum too!)
  • ooo i live in southampton, what part
  • Have you considered a one-way van hire, ie renting in the Midlands and dropping off in Southampton?
1car1 hire vans on this basis and normally charge £50 for the service, but they always drop this to £25 when I ask. You save a journey's worth of fuel and maybe a whole day's hire if you have to take an extra day out to return it.
Also, it's worth looking for internet prices then phoning the branches to get a price match. Most of the firms have good offers for the holiday period.
  • I just did a quick search and found the following site...

    www.compare-van-hire.co.uk

It does not provide quotes but has a directory of locations and some good advice on cheap van hire.

I have hired from easyvan and their prices have always been competetive, they partner with use local suppliers to provide the rental.
