comet c**p after sales

I boughta small white knight tumble dryer 417394 whit 38AW that I bought from Comet on 22/8/08 and only used a handful of times.

I thought I was buying a reputable brand from a reputable store however my current experience shows different.

I put some almost dry towels from the outside washing line into the tumble dryer to finish them off but did not expect them to be completely finished by the dryer burning them!!!!!!!!!

This is what happened:

Monday 27/10/08 towels into tumble dryer and left to dry. My husband returned to the spare room where the dryer is kept a short time later and was alarmed to smell burning. The dryer was still rotating so he opened the door and discovered the burnt towel. He switched the appliance off and checked there was no further smoldering.

I phoned Comet the next day and was advised an engineer would need to call. This was not acceptable as we were concerned about even having the appliance in the house considering the danger we considered it posed so decided to return it to the store where we were told an engineer would call to check it out. I stated that it had been less than 6 months from the date of purchase and that regardless of what the engineer said I wanted the appliance replaced.

I received a phone call today to say the engineer could not replicate what had happened and in his opinion the appliance was in full working order and could I come an d pick it up. I phoned Comet the store, their call centre and their head office and got nowhere.

Well I am not picking up the appliance because I have the burnt towel and as far as I am concerned that speaks volumes and I am not prepared to put my family at risk for the sake of a potential £109.99 death trap.

I am so disappointed at this situation and feel fully ripped off by Comet and disgusted at their attitude I am so lucky that I am not another sad statistic dead from smoke inhalation because of a faulty electrical appliance.

I will never shop at Comet or any affiliated outlet again and I will never buy White Knight
