Hi guyts. I am usually very good atr all this techie stuff but for once I need some help. Can someone recomend a program to shrink down files to fit on my PDA. The current file is an avi in 640x480 res. I have searched google but all i get is half answers and rubbishly restrictive free trials

So what is a format that is small and where is a program that I can use to achive conversion

    Hi Russ,

Don't know of any freeware that will do the job, but take a look here and try the free trial before you buy (19.95).
  • Try PSP Video 9 (google it) its free and easy to use, not sure if it will handle an avi file mind you.

My friend using his PD for playing videos even movies and shrink them. I ask him tommorow if I remember (well later today) to see what he uses. I am sure its Dr DIVX but I check later and report back. I dont think dr Divx is available now though.

I know he just bought one ebay a 1gb compact flash card for it and he can store loads on there
  • Hi,
I use tmpgenc 2.5 to encode avi/mpg video files and its free from any good download site. Don't know if it works for PDA's as I don't know why formats they take.
Never used this one, but its a video spliiter and joiner http://www.ivideosoft.com/ don't know if its any good though.
  • I use an extremely simple way thay works. Download 2 programs called PocketDivXEncoder ( for your PC) and the viewer (was called Betaplayer, but has now changer its name to TCPMP) from http://divx.ppccool.com. The output file for your ppc is around 200mb from a 750mb input.

In PocketDivXEncoder the sound level should be at around 50-60% otherwise will overmodulate. Betaplayer also makes a good MP3 player with more sound functions than mediaplayer
