payment meters

Hi All

my mother uses a pre pay meter for her fuel, can she pay monthly DD instaed or does she have to have the meter changed to do this.
Also would this method be cheaper

    To move from prepayment to DD she will need to have the meter changed for which the supplier may charge plus they will undertake a credit checked before agreeing to this.
