    I am still trying to sort out the mortgage (as mentioned about 5 days ago in one of these threads), got a few nigglies that I need to try to iron out.

    May I ask what "clicks" are?
    My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    used a 35p off coupon for the Mirror AND put the difference in the jar...think I`ve been lurking on here too long.
  • I picked up a pair of Berghaus walking boots that were a fiver in the charity shop - put them back though!
    Resisted the temptation to buy a £12.99 iron in Aldi (I can put up with mine for a few more months);
    Didn't go to a warehouse sale in Livingston which saved me petrol money and spends;
    Added some advantage points onto my Boots card from a purchase I made a month ago in Glasgow when I didn't have my card with me - got my 88 points for it;
    Bought Tesco own make malt loaf instead of Soreen (every little helps!);
    Washed at 30 degrees;
    Will be cleaning and watching recorded TV most of today;
    Filing my financial stuff too.
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Going out for a mates leaving do tonight so its a meal and then clubbing - wont hit me too hard as i'm driving so will not be drinking and prob get most of my soft drinks bought for me - we are going to ASK so will print off the voucher, theres load of us going so will see what discount we can get, failing that may just use it at our table ;)

  • I love reading this thread and getting tips from what others are doing to save the pennies!! :D

    Today I have

    1. Done two loads of washing, each using ONE washing tablet and one scoop of soda crystals for the first time ever (got the tip from MSE, THANKS!!!) The washing really does still smell as clean!

    2. Walked to Sainsburys instead of driving, and got my staple "basic" range stuff - rice, pasta, potatoes and cheap veg as the market was closing on the way home. Also bought some "soup mix" for 60p that I'm going to try with the stock I make from the leftover roast chicken bones & veg tomorrow. Never tried it before but hopefully it'll make a nice soup..!!

    3. Went through my freezer to see what meals I had left from last week. Still got 2-person portions of Chilli, sausage casserole and cottage pie mince. Today have made 4 individual bolognese portions, 2 2-person portions of chicken curry, 2 2-person portions of mashed potato plus enough for tonight's meal. There is a HUGE beef stew cooking in the oven as I type (3 tins of Sainsbury's premier tinned steak which is DIVINE, plus lots of cheap stew veg from the market) and there will be enough to freeze one 2-person portion, plus make a beef and vegetable pie for tonight.

    4. We are not going to the local rugby club fireworks tonight. We're going to stay indoors (where it's dry!!!) and watch it through the window ;)

    5. For my OH's favourite "chips and dips" snack on a Saturday evening I have bought Tesco value tortilla chips at 17p instead of about £1.50 for the usual ones he has... I have also made him some salsa with some of the bolognese I made today (before I added the mince). Hope he likes it!!

    6. Updated my budget spreadsheet with today's shopping cost (£17.61 for this week's dinners :j )

    Have a great DFW weekend everyone!

    I bought a breadmaker. I'm hoping in the long term the investment will save money. :)

    Afternoon all

    Late on here again today...out this morning and busy cakemaking with three kids this afternoon :eek:

    Sophiesmum, hope your hangover has gone now. I hate hangovers, I feel I lose a day! Piquant I feel for you, my little one has a cough and it just won't budge.

    Heres my list for today:

    * Cake making instead of buying - done
    * Bought some essentials in Boots using points
    * Off to Mum and Dads tonight for a Cards and nibbles evening with the kids
    * Me and mum went halfs on some BOGOFS
    * Got a book in borders for friend for crimbo - reduced!

    And thats it....a shameful effort today :o

    Miss P
    xx

    Well, went shopping today and bought several presents, i used some of the gift vouchers and saved some of the others for other people's presents. There was an offer on in the toy store so i got three presents for the price of two, saving £10. Plus i got the vouchers free from a survey site.

    Instead of going to the cafe, which was very expensive we went to the local sandwich shop and got a meal deal for lunch.

    Now off to go wrap pressies and get ready for the meal tonight.
