REFUND for purchase with credit card

Hi
I bought two items from an independent retailer last week - paid over the 'phone by credit card, a total of £959. After 5 days, I changed my mind and asked for a full refund. I was told they were keeping 10% - £95.90 of the full purchase price, including the delivery charge - £30. These were stock items, not special orders. The manager told me he tried his best and nearly lost his job trying to argue my case, but the owners refused a full refund. I offered to purchase one of the items at £129 but was refused. I accepted the refund but have told them the matter is not settled and I am trying to find out if I am covered for a credit card purchase for full refunds within 7 days. Can anyone clarify please? Thank you.

Did you read the terms and conditions for refunds ?
I know that we're all guilty of not reading such T&Cs enough, but the onus was on you to check them out.
If they state that full refunds are not possible in these circumstances, then you probably don't have a case for your credit card company to try and get some of the money back for you.0 -
It probably states that there is a restocking charge, which is quite normal nowaday. And the item was delivered, so that was another cost they incurred, dont think you have any case - sorrymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Check out the distance selling regulations, they cannot charge you a restocking fee, get straight on to your CC company.
Cheers, Des.0 -
under the distance selling regulations you are entiteld to a full refund within 7 days of delivery. (with some exceptions)
you may have to pay for the cost of returning the goods but you should have been told in advance.
ask them again for a full refund and if they don't comply complain to the local trading standards officer.0
