This is most helpful, it is possible to email me privately to let me know the name of the company you used? I shall arrange for Social Services to come and see if we can sort something out as well.

    Hi there,

I'm a social services OT and would certainly recommend that you contact them. Is the stairs straight or curved? Does she own the property? Where does she live? Maintenance is a huge issue with stairlifts so I would speak to social services about it. Get them out before inviting sales people into your home. I've also hear horror stories similar to those above. We install reconditioned lifts all the time without difficulty.

If you want to PM me, I can give you some more advice.

  • Thank you I shall get on to Social Services, it is a straight up lift so should not be difficult but the time delay may be. I shall keep you updated and contact should there be any further queries relating to her visit.
  • My Daughter has Firomyalgia, and we approached the local Ciy Council for funding for which they agreed. They looked at the 3 quotes we gave them and picked the lowest and we put the balance to the one that we wanted. They also covered the cost of extended warranty and 5 years maintenance cover. This all came about in consultation with the disability team from the City Council
