Bay window curtain poles

I'm hoping someone here can help! I'm trying to find wooden curtain poles for bay windows - I have seen them on a couple of sites on the web, but my husband is adamant that he doesn't want to order them via the web as he'd rather see them first, and in case he gets the measurements wrong.
We live on the outskirts of London on the edge of Essex. Does anyone know of anywhere within a 50 mile radius where we could get any poles - or should I give it up as a bad job?
