Tozer are you joking?
I don't work in Contracts but i know what lien is and you are referring to tradesmens lien which is not widely used in the UK. Lien in the UK (ENG/WAL) (if my memory serves me) can only be created without agreement and when someone fails to keep a payment whereby the property in question was or is to be assumed as security. i.e hire purchase agreements.
Not joking at all. If you look what I posted, I said that there would be no equitable interest unless a CONTRACTUAL lien had been created.
Taking a security interest is not the same as taking a lien over something.
And presumably you were mistaken about the garage having legal title in the car???0 -

I think we both know what i meant, but yes 'legal' was a lazy word to use but one that was meant to illustrate a point and essentially the power the garage hold. If you work in Contracts then i would consider your word to carry more weight than mine since i am merely trying to remember a subject i did many years ago and one i have barely touched since.
Out of interest what area do you practice?0 -

Don't put yourself on a pedestal against people whom you don't know, or you'll be in for a nasty fall.
Your username says a lot about who you are. You are clearly a child.
Now run along and play little boy.0 -

'Clearly a child'
That your supreme powers of deduction are so finely honed as to make a judgement of a person based upon their alias on a forum is a clear indicator of your excellent mental prowess.
Sir, I salute you. Not often does one find a person so bereft of originality. Your original presumption of the cost of parts, used to form the basis of your argument, was demonstrably false. Your quite inaccurate claims on the trustworthiness of garages have offended more than a few people, and also have been proven, false.
In short, try expanding your character to include new facets, such as 'the ability to recognise the increasing depth of the hole one is digging for one's self.'
If you are a lawyer, then the phrase 'the law is an !!!' comes immediately to mind.0 -
As a DIYer it's comforting to know even the pros can get it wrong too sometimes
