Balance transfers between spouses

Can anyone tell me if a balance transfer needs to be in between accounts in the same name or could they be from husband to wife, say. This would give more scope for applying for cards and, having gone self employed a year ago, may make things easier.

Most credit card issues don't notice or don't care. As long as it is a valid credit card number, they usually do the transfer. Transferring between husband and wife is done by quite a lot of people.
