Problem with loading modem drivers Vista/330 modem

I've brought a new laptop and after having problems connecting to the internet the techs at Toucan tell me I need to set up new drivers for Vista. The cd arrived today but loading the drivers fails. Toucan said it might be the cd so I've downloaded the drivers from the Thomson website onto my old laptop then transfered them onto my new laptop but it still won't download the drivers. I've uninstalled old drivers and added new ones but to no avail. I've spent all this money on a laptop that won't connect!

I've been on broadband with Toucan for a couple of years so the Speedtouch 330 modem I have is a couple of years old so should I be looking for a new modem? Some sites, which went right over my head, mention adsl modems work better. Should I be buying a new modem?

Any information on what's going on with Vista/330 modems gratefully received.

would be better to but a dedicated modem/router, probably get one from ebay for about a tenner

Have already tried that vista driver and I get the same problems if I'm trying to load the driver from the cd.

I'll pop into the local 'puter shop and see about a modem!

I take it you are connecting to the modem via a usb cable, its it possible to connect via a network cabke then you probably wouldnt need to install any drivers.

Remember to disconnect the modem from the laptop/PC whilst installing and uninstalling the Drivers.
