Advice please

Options
I'm a complete novice regarding credit cards & would appreciate some advice.

I have 4 credit cards:

I have had 2 barclaycards for years - 1 visa gold & 1 mastercard. I only got the mastercard as I was visiting America and someone said that they mostly use mastercard at the time.

I have 1 halifax card that I've had for abt a year or more- ( cash back) I'm also hoping to switch my bank acct to halifax as its more convenient.

I have just opened a &more card with M & S a few months back as they gave me 10% of my purchase but haven't used the card yet. I don't know what possessed me to open it

I always pay my balances off in full.

I really don't need 4 credit cards. Do you think it is best to close some accounts?

Can anyone advise me what the best thing to do is?

Thank you

Perhaps you should evaluate what you want from your cards. Barclay cards give you nothing you can't get with the others as far as I can tell. You could try to close one them down and see what offers they make you to keep it open.

Four cards isn't too bad. I have six. Many have more. If you don't have balances on them then you don't need to do anything. Use your halfax card for the cashback and pay it off in full every month.
  • It may be worth ringing M&S to cancel the card. My wife recently received an offer from them for 6 months 0% BT, so they may offer you something similar instead of cancelling...??

I would bin the Barclaycards - they're unlikely to offer you anything - their customer retention department doesn't seem to be as 'eager' as others, according to some other posters here.
