Is it possible to prevent people from registering on the site and spamming the boards

No unfortunately because how do you know they will spam until they do. Even blocking known spammers they come back using another username lastest one being good gambling. Every day it gets spammed that Russian web site 20-30 post a day

Its irritating, but theres nothing we can do to stop them except report the posts, its a shame the IP address doesnt become blocked as well as the user, not 100& effective I know, but it still has some effects, seems to work well in lots of other forums, but this has been discussed many times before.,

There is a simple mod that bans links until they get to 10 posts or something, works well on other boards.

That method suits lower activity forums where moderators have the chance to check everything and approve posts by genuine new users, but it might cause more extra work on here than just removing spam, and alienate the real new users

The poster is probably a Bot as they use random username all the time LG0gCfiiH9DEn

I think these scripts they use get round the sign up process it was compromised months ago, some web site now deploy different tactic. Can mse do this?
