GBP vs USD

Im not sure if anyone can advise me on this but here goes.

I'm going to the US at the end of November and im looking to change my money for dollars. At the moment I can get $800 for my £500 though I know that will come down a little based on todays fluctuations.

Is it worth me buying the dollars tonight or waiting it out over November?

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

James

Predicting forex is a dangerous and difficult game. My guess - and it is a guess - is that you should wait a while. I believe we'll see a small increase in £ to $ strength, but nothing major.
    Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.

If we could answer that we'd not be here, we'd be earning our living switching money between currencies all day, making money each time and living the high life.

If you really can't decide, do half now and half then. You won't win, but you'll feel you won on half your money.

I have reason to believe that the dollar rate will go up immensely in the first half of December. Anyone who trades before then will really kick themselves.

To avoid the risk, why not keep your money in doubloons? They are just as widely accepted in the USA as they are here, and are not going to lose their value in a hurry.
  • Thanks for your help, I think I will just buy them tonight, its not doing me any favours watching the currencies each day and at least once I have the money I can forget about it and look forward to the holiday.
