Hi, I was wondering If anyone can give me a pointer to approximately when these results come out in August.Basically, DS Is in yr 11 at school.Traditionally we take ouR holiday In august from the 22nd of August as the prices drop dramatically(well there are 5 of us;) ).If this is around the time the results come out I'll bite the bullet and pay peak prices.Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for that.How did you find this out and what date do you plan to be back if you don't mind me asking?I cannot find anything on the net and DS is not sure.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0 -
I think it's the 4th Thursday in August (and A levels are the 3rd Thursday)0

I got it from the AQA website, I looked up key dates

AS and A2's are 20th, GCSE 27th August, which is later than normal, but several websites say the same0

I just wondered why you'd bite the bullet and pay extra.
I think the students can ring up and get their results - sometimes a password is needed but the school usually sets this up in advance.2014 Target;

If there's a question over whether the results are going to be good enough to move onto the next stage (whatever that is) then it's worth being around that day to discuss the situation.
But if you're not around, check when your next chance of having such discussions will be.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

This was not the case for my eldest daughter last year. We asked before we booked our holiday if we could telephone through for the results or if they would e-mail them and they said no. The only choices were to go into the school to collect them or they would post them to our home address. It was also important that we were home for the results too as my daughter was changing school for 6th form and once she had her results we had to go to the other school to show she had achieved the correct grades to get in and to register; if we had left it she might have been left with her second choice school which was not as good. We have the whole rigmarole again this year with youngest daughter :rolleyes:.0 -
I'm sure when I did mine there was the option of supplying a stamped self addressed envelope and getting them posted to you - so if you have a relative willing to receive and open them he could find out over the phone on holiday0

One thing to remember when booking holidays is that in the GCSE year they finish school early and so you could book a holiday before the end of term, but this is no good if you have younger children who still have to attend school !
Schools usually want to see the students on results day to discuss sixth form choices, or if they are planning to move on then the next school or college will want to discuss plans . Or there will be huge competition to apply for whatever jobs are on offer at the time .... It's worth biting the bullet if you have to for peace of mind that they have opted for the best option.
