Student loan debt from 1993 - Question

Hi

I have had my light bulb moment this month and cant wait to start clearing my debts starting in Jan next year.

But this month out of the blue i had a letter from Fredrickson!International!Ltd
demanding i pay the outstanding amount on a student loan. (£1100) I had totally forgot about this loan i took out in 1993!!

It was a bit of a kick in the pants really because it added another £1100 to my current debt.

Has anyone had any experiance with student loans and with the loan being so old (12 years).

Only once the loan if not paid within 25 years will the Student's Loan Company even consider writing it off. That's the only info I know in terms of "age of loan".

Best best would be to contact the SLC and come to a payment arrangement. Include that as part of your debt-clearance "programme".
  • Ohit, I think you're on a different track. From my interpretation of the OP, and correct me if I'm wring, the loan isn't with the SLC, so the 25yr rule etc doesn't apply.
