Had loads at New Oscott (Sutton Coldfield) this morning when I picked 2 up for myself and 12yr old daughter. Dont know how long stock will last though because most people had at least 1 in their basket or trolley. Its also a 24hr store.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Instore promotion only, worth getting just to use as a storage device if you already have an MP3 player.

Get them while you can, they may not last long.

Just got a couple, very good they are too.
  • Just picked up a couple from Tesco in Bursledon in Southhampton. They are just in bit from the entrance, up the main isle at the end of an isle on the left. They had loads left and these were origianlly £29.99!

    Very good price, support mp3 and wma and voice recording too. Not sure if its USB 1.1 or 2, I think it is 1.1 and can be used as a memory key. It comes with the following;

    1 x AAA battery
1 x set of headphones which are incorporated into a lanyard.
    1 x instruction manual
1 x Win98SE driver disk (later versions of windows just recognise it as a removeable drive by default)
1 x USB extension cable (in case your USB ports are cramped as this is chunky)

I just hope the battery life isn't as bad as mentioned eariler.

    Cheers

Thats a very concise description from Welshbob above, i picked 3 up this morning but had to go to another store as my local one sold out yesterday.

i have just set the first one up, i have windows XP so just plug into the USB and it recognises it as a storage device.

The important bit, how many songs will it hold. i have loaded 3 CD's and it is full so roughly 40 songs in MP3 format. Not huge, very basic but it will do me, if i use it then i will buy a nicer one but this is a great stocking filler.

Typical!! I bought one of these last week after I saw them advertised in the paper for 19.97. Thought that was a good price. All wrapped up for Christmas now.
  • The staff were just putting them out in Tesco Hoover (West London) this afternoon - and there was a lot of staff interest around them too.

The lanyard (neck cord) has the headphone wires running inside the cord and a jack plug at the bottom end - if you wanted one of these it would be very hard to find - is well cool and sounds good quality to me! The player has a nice clean sound with plenty of bass and lots of available volume but no volume limiter.

The USB extension cable that comes with it is in case the player is too wide to plug into your PC USP connector (it may get stopped by the outer casing).

Nice blue backlight to the display with an adjustable contracst setting, there's a "Hold" function by pressing volume+ and volume- buttons at the same time.

No tone control, but it has an equalisation setting (rock/jazz/bass/pop/classical), repeat and a random shuffle function. There's also a voice record function. Does not show folder info on the display but does understand them, so you can organise your songs into folders/subfolders and it still finds them.

I think it is USB2 as my PC does not give a warning message but honestly not too sure how to tell (sorry). With only 256K the speed of transfer won't be so much of an issue even to replace all the songs at once. It moved an album in the space of time it took me to type that sentence.

Has to be the bargain of the year as far as I'm concerned. Thanks to all posters (and to Tesco) :rudolf:

The 'daddy' free mp3/wma converter is DBPOWERAMP.

There are 'newer' versions but they have taken out the free mp3 conversion.

The older version '10' still has it though and its available here:
    http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-r10.exe

All the plug-in codecs for it are here (including the wma9.1)
    http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm

The compression and quality you can get converting to wma's will really allow you to fit alot more onto the 256mb (Allows you to select quality and size setting so you can experiment what sounds and fits well!)

I had a 64mb Muvo and would of been lost without dbpoweramp!

    Cheers
