Natwest Online Banking - help please

a I haven't logged onto my Natwest internet banking for about a week.

I went to check balances today and got as far as the page where you enter the numbers/letters of your PIN and Password.

The screen is asking for my whole pin and whole password, as well as the usual numbers / letters.

I haven't put them in and rang Nat west straightaway who confirmed they wouldn't ask for a whole pin or password and not to put in the details. They seemed quite un-interested and just said the computer had a virus and I need to get it looked at. I asked if I needed a new customer number to log in with (date of birth + 4 random numbers) and they said no.

I rang my husband at work to get him to try and log on via his laptop on works internet connection, and when he tried he just got "page cannot be displayed".

I'm just wanting to know if anyone else can log onto it from their end or if the site is down?

PS - the log-in page has a picture of a padlock at the top, and when I hover it says the connection is encrypted, and verified to NWOLB

PPS - the log-in page also logged me out after ten minutes because I had been inactive

which antivirus/malware product do you use?

if you go to the command prompt (start, run, cmd)

    ping www.nwolb.com

what ip address do you get

Sorry, I must be doing something wrong. I have got the black box on the screen how do I type it in? ping (then website address) or not type in ping, then the website address? I don't know which way to do it and just get www.nwolb.com is not recognised as an internal or external command.

    (sorry for being technophobe)

did you click on link in an email, or type the url in yourself?

I typed in the address myself, and not sure about the antivirus - just texted DH to ask him.

  • I did the command prompt and got the same ip address

However when I clicked on the link posted for it above I got the invalid security certificate error, so don't think going to the website that way works

I can log in fine (just checked again) I always do it by going to natwest.com and then clicking on the log into online banking button at the top right
