Purple Dishwasher

I have just unloaded my dishwasher and a lot of the plastic components inside - mainly the filters have turned purple
It's like a film of red wine on everything - if you rub it, it stains your fingers but doesn't come off the plastic.
It's not tomato based food ingredients because this leaves an orangey colour on items. It must have happened a couple of washes ago, but Mr TM unpacked the DW yesterday (and wouldn't have noticed if there had been a marching band living in there). I know this because when I used a frying pan earlier today that was washed yesterday and added some olive oil, the oil went red.
It's got me completely stumped. I don't think I've used a new ingredient recently. The only thing that is new is the afore-mentioned frying pan, which is non stick, but that's been in there a couple of times before. I'm currently running it empty on a hot wash with bleach in it. Anyone got any ideas what it is or where it's come from?
BTW - it has no smell.

I don't know whta could have caused that but I know when my DW interior and plastics get that Judith Chalmers orange powdery coating that bolognaise sauce causes running the programme again even with bleach does not get it off. I end up on my hands and knees wiping out the DW and hand washing the plastics.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Well, as you say MATH, the bleach didn't work but at least it's germ free
I will at some point be wiping over the affected bits with cif. I'm just at a loss as to what it is and where it's come from.
(ps Did I tell you that Judith Chalmers is my auntie?

Pah!
I am very disappointed with this thread.
I was hoping that some manufacturer somewhere had realised that people dont want white (or brown/green) white goods, and had started making purple dishwashers - everybody LOVES purple (well..... I do). I was hoping that I could tell OH that we would have to completely gut the kitchen and start again in PURPLE!!!!
Oh well.....

Sorry
I too, love purple, but I don't think I'd want purple appliances (then again?
)
You can pop round and admire my filter if that will make you feel better...... :snow_laug0 -
Haven't put beetroot in there have you? (serious question!). It stains everything, I mean everything. My wife went to the doctors with purple p*o. Was very embarrased when asked has she had beetroot recently. She had a beetroot sandwich the day before. Sorry if this story is too base. Merry Christmas!"...IT'S FRUITY!"0
