good day folks
need a bit of help/advice
upon loosing employment i decided to claim on the finacial hardship basis , my income is next to zero , had to cancel dd's ,over my overdraft etc .
got my charges back dated , and sent the 2nd letter to my branch claiming using the template from this portal , it clearly states that they had 14 days to respond , they did not , i called to question why and was advised that the bank would treat it as 14 working days and i would have a response by today . alas no response , called again and was fed the line about test cases and my claim being filed until a decision is reached.no mention of the financial hardship circumstances .
so what now ? ombudsman ? court ? another letter to the bank ?
all help as always is appreciated

OK, remember you are specifying the timescale, not them. You might want to remind the bank, if you meant 14 'working days', that's what you would have wrote. Quite simply, if the bank do not respond within the reasonable timescale given, you move onto the next stage.called again and was fed the line about test cases and my claim being filed until a decision is reached.no mention of the financial hardship circumstances .

Please refer back to Martin's Step by step reclaim guide. This explains what to do if you think you qualify for financial hardship consideration. The link is in my signature.0 -
 Please help me. I made a claim last year and it was just about to go to Court when all claims were put on hold. I have £3,840.00
of charges to dispute. Since then my husband has been made redundant and is looking for work. We are in arrears with our mortgage and credit cards and so I put in a call to Barclays re financial hardship. They sent me a form and I duly filled it in. Received no reply. Sent a copy, still no reply. What do I do now. I am today going to send it Recorded Delivery but what then?

I have just managed to get Abbey to pay up £4.4k under the Financial Hardship clause.
I am currently unemployed and have no income as well.
They first just blanked my letters with replies that didn't answer my questions and just let it ride. UNTIL i started a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service.
In my case, I first had to complete the banks income and expenditure reports and send them back. They then, as usual, tried a letter saying that the court case is currently on hold and tried to stall me.
I then approached the FOS and they wrote to the bank stating they had 8 weeks to address my claim or they would get involved. The bank exceeded the 8 weeks so I called them and explained they were out of time.
SUDDENLY - they started calling me
Within a week they called me and have said they will refund the FULL claim and the money will be in my bank soon!...
Just keep plugging away. Don't be put off by them constantly stating that the case is on hold. Keep stating that you are claiming under financial hardship and get the FOS involved ASAP.
Good Luck
