Sorry - forgot to ask: does anyone know where in Lakeside the grotto is, and where is best to park close by? I couldn't find this info on the website

No, you do have to pay - cost us £46 in total - but they do go to a lot of trouble to do it well. We didn't go last year (//lapland uk\\ instead), but have enjoyed it in the past, very atmospheric and a lovely day out.
Hope this link works: http://www.rarebreeds.org.uk/ev08-magical-xmas.htm0 -
We did this last year - queued up at Bluewater, I mean, rather than book online, which is probably a better idea.
However, just so you know, the way they make their money is to charge HUGE amounts of dosh for a photo of your little one/s with Santa. My boy cried so we have a great picture of him looking miserable and Santa looking weary....Debt cleared! [strike]£13,128[/strike] £0!!!
Saving for maternity leave: £3,300/£3500

We did Harrods last year. I think they all expect you to buy the photos afterwards. DD didn't smile at all, there was definitely no pressure to buy the photograph because of that!0 -
