If you want the pyramids ( as opposed to Luxor and the valley of the kings etc.) then it will have to be Cairo, you could do a twin centre but it means lots of messing about with flights.
Try Egypt air for flights, they are partnered with BMI so you could get connecting flights to Heathrow.
For speed, I think I would just go into an independant travel agents and get them to search for you - try viator for all the excursions you can do, I wouldn't stay right next to the pyramids for a whole week as it's too far out and I assume you want to see the rest of Cairo? There is the museum, the citadel, El hazar park is beautiful too.
There are some nice hotels in the centre and one is right by the museum - if you go on google maps you can get a good view of the city and trip advisor has a good Egypt forum.0 -
we took our son in january but didnt stay in cairo as we thought it wouldnt be a great place to stay for a whole week with him and thought the cruises up the nile might be a little boring at his age, instead we stayed in el gouna and flew up to cairo for the day to see everything (u can also do a trip to luxor but we didnt do that but hope to next week when we are off to egypt again!!)
this meant we had a fairly relaxed holiday with pools for him to play in but still managed to see the sites, when we added in the price of the flights to cairo it didnt work out anymore expensive then going on a cruise or staying in cairo would have been
