Sony Bravia KDL 26V4000

Options
Can anyone tell me about the Sony Bravial KDL 26V4000? I am thinking of buying this, but I would appreciate your opinion. What do you think of the sharpness of the pictures?
Any help and opinions are very much appreciated.

  • I have the KDL32S3000 which although is a bigger screen, it is the model below the V4000 and it's a great set. I was an LCD hater before I bought this. Great screen, picture quality is great and the built in speakers (as far as built in speakers go) are very good. Lots of settings you can play around with to tweak the picture to your liking. The standard factory settings always need to be changed when you buy.
Nice menu system and has the best EPG of any TV I have used.

So long as you turn off all the fancy settings ~ its supposed to be the best 26" tv to buy
if you DONT turn them off, you could have 'motion blur' problems

As I mentioned in your other post, I have the 40V4000 and it's a great set. You'll not go far wrong with this one.
  • What do you mean by fancy settings? Sorry, but I am not very tecchie.
  • Basically all plasmas and LCD's have a setting that is either called Dynamic or Vivid or something like that which in all fairness makes the picture quality poop. Just flick this back to standard in the menu and turn down the contrast, sharpness and brightness.
Also turn off any noise reduction settings.

All modern tvs have a mutlitude of extra c*ap built into them. Philips have 'pixel plus' etc

On the sony you have ~
NOISE REDUCTION and CONTRAST ENHANCER (Possibly others too)
    Turn them off

  • Yes, it's all b*ll**ks they use to make the telly seem better when you're browsing - but they don't actually improve the quality.

In my opinion, Sony is the best LCD manufacturer by far, with Panasonic closely following Pioneer in the plasma stakes. So I'd say go for it.

Just wondering, which room is this tv for? Usually, 26 inch is best suited to a bedroom, kitchen or conservatory...?
