Flying out over xmas day - suggestions for where for first single hol

Hi,
Newly separated and ex-husband has our children over Christmas, so I'm hoping to get away from it all & save money by flying out on xmas day and back around new year. Am considering New York, but would welcome any suggestions to both destination and how to save/get upgraded as a single traveller.
I have previously enjoyed holidays to places like Krakow, Edinburgh and am not a lay back on a beach or an extreme sportskind of a girl. Will be on my own and can spend around £300 on flights.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions or help,
Caroline

I doubt if you will get New York flights for £300 at christmas. Prague would be worth considering, it's especially beautiful at that time of year.0

Hi, well BA are quoting me £289 to fly out on the 25th Dec and back 31st-2nd Jan, prices are around £138 - £170 each way inc taxes depending on the time. Prague would be a 'typical' holiday for me and one I'd love to do with a partner, am really looking to do something different to ring the changes.
Many thanks0 -
I would suggest flying to Las Vegas stay a couple of days and hire a car and drive to San Diego via Palm Springs for New year.I think this would work out cheaper than staying in expensive NY hotels and would certainly be warmer.0

How about Toronto or Halifax, Nova Scotia? Both extremely beautiful places and there are cheap flights to be had with Canadian affair.0

New York is a good place for a single traveller, although accommodation can be expensive. There is soooooooooooooo much to do and you can do as little / as much as you want and you can't be lonely in a place with that many people.
The only downside to there is that it will be FREEZING and you might struggle to get accommo on the lead up to New Year's Eve.
PM me if you want info on where my mum stayed on her own in New York a month ago

Are you planning to blow off a little um steam on this single holiday. Miami might be a cheaper clubbing holiday.
Might be an idea to try a short back packing holiday around Thailand or SE Asia. Full of other single travelers to talk to or meet. Staying in youth hostels also a good way to save money and meet new friends.
Going to a non-christian country like Israel or Istanbul, might be an idea, as they are more likely to be buzzing during xmas.0 -
Hi, it's definitely going to be NY, and a single girl friend now wants to come too. Thanks for the suggestions.0
