We (a couple in our late twenties expecting our first baby in January) are going away tomorrow for a last minute weekend break before baby comes along.
We're not really into pubbing and clubbing so wouldn't mind some recommendations for the evening.
I've heard lots of people say that York is a good getaway - so what can we do whilst we are there?
Will be going to the Viking centre and I think the train museum is their as well.
Any suggestions? Any live concerts or good theatre going on?

Or try the City Screen Cinema for Arthouse and independent movies (while you still can since I see you're expecting a baby:D, soon be all Disney!! )
Shopping is brilliant- wander round The Shambles.
 Try walking the City Walls.
Definitely do one of the Ghost Walks in the evening for something different.

Third and final post on this. Dont do Jorvik ( Yorvik ) its over priced and out dated.
the animatronics are laughably bad. They are now over 20 years old so dont quite work correctly. The commentary is via speakers mounted in your chair ( you sit down and are dragged round a mock village ). The speakers are mounted too high for most kids so you have to relay the information yourself. My kids ( 6 and 8 ) didn't get anything from it in terms of learning about vikings. Why this place is still going is beyond me.
