Advice re spirit level

Was thinking of getting one for hubby as the bubble has gone in his (!).

Has anyone used the laser or other ones before? I was looking at this one

Or are they just a gimmick and the normal long metal levels better?

Ta. x

That's a laser level - it's used to project a visible straight edge along a surface - it will have a small built-in spirit level so you can get the project line horizontal/vertical, as required.

  • if he's serious about his diy/work then an argos one probably isnt so good/accurate enough. try a tool store- local or theres loads on the net.

It is a toy, almost completely useless.

If you love your husband you will not insult him by buying this :D alternatively, go ahead and buy it but expect an ironing board for your birthday present.

Spirit levels are always too low ...in your glass that is:beer:
Today the spirit levels are particularly high though being halloween (sorry no smileys for halloween - Martin get your dracula teeth on in the header at top of the site!!)

ok, ok i'll stop the bad jokes!!

Different spirit levels for different jobs...sometime the small 9 inch "torpedo" levels are useful for smaller jobs but generally longer spirit levels are better as you can be more accurate for levelling over longer distances. I have a 3 foot B&Q level that is adequate for my occasional use - it has a vial either end and one in the middle with one vial that you can change the angle of or use as an angle reader (not really had need to use this feature) plus it also has a useful ruler on the edge that i use alot. B&Q currently selling a similar one for about £10 - though they have longer levels going upto £80.

    Hope that helps

Good afternoon: Go on...push the boat out and get some quality gear from Stanley...the OH has 3 levels (3 lengths) while a laser gizmo has been consigned to File 13.

Can't you just get a replacement bubble? ;)

What ever level you buy, make sure that the bubble in it has been coloured. I have, what purported to be a good quality level, but the bubble is so pale in colour, that it is very difficult to see, when being used in a poor light.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
