I just went for a Singapore Sling at the Raffles bar (I was travelling alone :() - it's expensive, but I think it's a piece of "British" Imperial history that may not be around for long, and you should experience it while you can!
Even if you don't go for tea, get one of those little pedal cart people to take you there, and have a drink at the bar.........
  • Hi,

    we went 2 years ago.

It was fairly expensive, but worth it.

There are 2 places to have it - in the Tiffin Room, and another place, a Garden room - maybe a Billiard room or something?

Anyways, the tiffin room was a help yourself buffet. Better value for money, but lacked atmosphere and "class" imho.

The garden room was much nicer. The portions were large anyways, and the atmosphere much better.

We also had high tea in the Authors Wing of the Oriental Hotel, Bangkok, on the same trip, and THAT was actually a lot nicer than Raffles, we thought.

    Cheers,
    karen

Agree with Karen, its has lost a lot of its atmosphere, you used to have to dress up but the last time we were there they were letting people in in shorts / sandals ect, really spoilt what it was all about. You can just walk around the grounds and into the main lobby of the hotel for free.
