Quidco/cookies query

Options
I wonder if any of you kind souls can help me!
I raised a missing transaction enquiry with Quidco last month and have just received the following reply:- "The Merchant rejected for competing cookies - another site has been credited for the sale"
I'm really not good with the technical side of things on my computer so this has gone way over my head! Any advice please?

What they are saying is that you visited the site you bought from either directly or from another site before you visited it through quidco so they get the commission and not you.

You should really delete cookies before buying through quidco, in IE it's Tools, Internet Options then Delete history or cookies depending on which version of IE you have.

Got it but, if I delete the cookies history will I lose all my passwords? I can't remember them all so it will be a real pain getting new ones! Sorry if I'm being dense!

Im new to this board and was wondering the same thing, could you confirm if this is right please?

I'm looking to do house insurance thru quidco, but have heard that i cant use a comparison site before to get a quote because quidco won't track.

So am I right in thinking I should do the following.......
do comparison on IE to find cheapest quote
    THEN clear cookies via TOOLS,
then use firefox to get the insurance thru quidco???

I don't want to mess it up, I NEED that cashback!!!

    TIA x

no need to remove cookies if using an alternate browser

to double check in Firefox go to

Tools, Private Data , and tick cookies to remove all

or go to Tools, Options , privacy, show cookies , then remove what you don't want to keep

Yes, another browser the same as Internet Explorer

    http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/

Download & install then use it to shop through Quidco

Thanks for that...I understand now....BUT one more thing

Im thinking of going with MORE THAN insurance.
Can I go dierct to their site and get a quote thru IE.
Then buy it thru WEPROMISETO cashback site thru FIREFOX?
    Thanks for all your patience

My understanding is that if you use an insurance comparison site entering personal or car / house details, then that original record is then stored with the individual insurance companies. That original comparison site will get the commission whatever website links or browser you use afterward for a set period of time.
In most other transactions I have found using different browsers and / or clearing cookies is enough.
I recall Quidco telling us this was as a result of new software being introduced this year.
