Child Tax Credits - How Much?

Hi
I'm posting on behalf of a friend who is presently struggling completing the forms for CTC and, although I've searched online, I can't find the info I needed so here I am
My friend (and her partner) have one child (2 months). Their problem is that my friend's partner has been self-employed and PAYE (at separate times) (as well as working on commission now too) and they are trying to work out their income for the claim.
Is there a table anywhere showing that if you have one child and earn up to £x you get £x, up to £x you get £x etc etc. They would rather put their estimated income in the slightly higher bracket (ie to get less CTC) so they don't have to repay or have their payments reduced the following year.
Thanks
Ms C x

The income bveing asked for on the claim pack is for the tax year 2007/08 so they dont need to estimate anything really. They should be able to work out their ACTUAL income details between 6th April 07 until 5th April 2008.0

Yes the claim pack asks for last years, but I'd recommend they also try and work out an estimate for this year -- and phone that in as soon as they get their award notice. The reason for this is that if you income for THIS year is lower they will adjust your tax credits NOW...... and if the new Mum had a salary coming in last tax year but is now on SMP the chances are it WILL be lower.Cheryl0

I agree with cw18 - work out a current year estimate for when the claim has processed. But make sure to get last year's figures on the form and get it sent in as soon as possible to get the claim processed.0
