Just have to put my feelings down on here.
beingjdc what is it you want to see happen to your fuel bills up today down tomorow back up on monday to follow the ups and downs of the price of the therms.
You may want this but i dont i prefer stability.
Oh and yes i bet you are not on a tracker rate for your gas and electricity are you?
Tracker rates some gas and electric companys brought them out in 2006 and had a low take up rate but most stopt them when the customers left when the price was unstable and started to go up.
Prices will come down mid year 2009 but i think that they still have to go up in Jan or Feb yet
I don't even think this Govt will allow them to do this! My theory is prices will come down Spring 2009 (under duress, of course), i.e. once the cold snap/big bills have finished.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
I think some people need to realise that these companies make profit (Is there such a thing as an acceptable amount?), but the current UK infrastructure needs a huge amount of cash piling into it to support the building of new power stations, grid upgrades, renewable technology.
Its a well documented fact that coal power stations will be taken offline soon due to the EU Directive on carbon emissions, Alot of the Nuclear power stations are coming to the end of there useful life.
How would a company not making profits make investments into new stations to replace the old ones?
I would like to believe that we are going to get cheap energy again but that just isn't going to happen. If people want cheaper energy then they are going to have to look into generating it themselves.
And no I don't work for an energy company I can just see the bigger picture.0 -

2009 my !!!, prices should already have come down, the gas companies got in *2*
big price hikes this year when oil prices were rising, so there should already have been one price cut and another on the way.
Clearly the gas companies are acting as an illegal cartel and their bosses must be jailed and have their assets seized. The companies need to be taken back into state control as the credit crunch has shown private companies cannot control their own greed.
The gas compnies bosses should be made to share the same prison cell as the 'regulator' OFGEM.
And not even the gas company shrills cannot explain why prices failed to drop despite having had several months to make something up.

:xmassign: only 24 shopping says until Xmas :xmassign::xmastree: :rudolf::rudolf::xmassign::rudolf::rudolf:
Peace on Earth, Goodwill to all men etc;)
Not from the gas companies, they are intent of freezing us all to death this Christmas
and take delight in telling us so whilst announcing bumper profits.
I hope the bosses spend their Xmas in a cold prison cell awaiting trial.
I hope they are jailed like these three but for much longer.

Seems like it was the US police who caught them, the UK just allow
companies to get away with it, unless their arm is twisted by the USA.
It seem corruption is rampant in the industry and it is time really harsh jail terms were handed out as a deterent. Three years is nothing these people should be spending 30 years+ behind bars.0 -

The Irish are paying 28% more for their gas than we are. Fact.
They have no switching websites to subsidise, no shareholders and no online discounts.
Worse, they have no choice. The utilities are nationalised, as you would like ours to be.
Why don't you move over here? They seem to offer everything you wanted... (well except for cheaper gas, but you don't believe me anyway).Which, as I was attempting to demonstrate, makes a mockery of using exchange rates to compare how much the population of other countries pay for their gas.0 -
Mech, what (current) gas tariff are you on that charges you 3p per kwh of gas? TIA!Call me Carmine....

The Irish are now paying 62% more than me for gas. My god how these utility companies rip me off. I feel exploited.0
