Hi.
I have just had my money made available for my mortgage which has been sent to the solictiors. Solictiors saying that £30.00 extra is required because the Halifax have taken that as a fee.
This is a joke im going to be paying interest on that 30 quid i have been charged over the years.
I am entitled to this back aint I? Thanks replies appreciated

If you were not informed about this charge from Halifax prior to them taking it, then that is not right and you need to contact them direct requesting this to be refunded to your mortgage account, if they do not then make a complaint via the FOS. Make sure to provide them with all the evidence. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
The £30 is what it costs Halifax to send the money to the solicitor via CHAPS and has to be paid by you to the solicitor.0

catmiaow Your comments aren't particularly helpful. The £30 will definitely have been stated in the Key Facts Illustration for the mortgage, and the customer will have known about it.
Not reading the KFI isn't a reason for the charge not to be enforceable.
Edinburghlass isn't quite right either. It definitely won't cost Halifax £30 to make a CHAPS payment. But it's completely irrelevant how much it costs them - they can charge what they like, as long as it's in the mortgage KFI/offer which it will have been.0 -

I don't believe you weren't informed. It's in the KFI.
Have you checked your KFI to see whether it mentions the £30 (it will)?
Might save you looking a complete idiot down at the branch.0
