or ask a student you know to get it for you and you will pay them etc0 -
I need to buy 2 laptops from Dell I think its worth calling and requesting discount others in this house want to order on line and not even ask! Surely particularly at the moment its got to be worth it!!!!!! Do not have contact with student in this area re their discounts0

I went into Comet, Marsh Mill, Plymouth when I was on hols and was interested in a £500.00 computer. I said to the guy if I buy this would you give me a laptop bag free. He replied certainly not and I went away. However spoke to those awfully nice people in Currys and they had the same computer but a £100 cheaper. So thank you so much Comet for being tight fisted because if it was not for you I would have paid more for the same item.0

any ideas if i can get a bigger discount on a macbook pro then my student discount?
gotta be a macbook pro to do what i need it to do, but still awefully expensive.0 -
Make sure it's the Further Education Discount you're using, and not the Education Discount. Use a cashback credit card (and pay off fully of course). Buy online and there's a £60 rebate on printers. Take the cheapest one (£60) and eBay it. Or resort to a refurbished MacBook Pro, but then I think you lose the Edu discounts. Otherwise there's very little that a new 'brick' MBP can do that any 2007/08 ones can't - go second-hand.

Sorry, right so there's a HIGHER (Uni, only available from a uni computer or IP address, or with student ID in store), AND a FURTHER (Colleges) and a plain old Education store. And I'm not eligible for any of them!0

Has anyone been able to haggle down the price of a macbook on top of a higher education discount when calling the apple store? I need to buy one for christmas, but am a poor student...0

Something we need to keep in mind when haggling is thinking what the retailer is making from the deal. The margins on hardware, particularly PCs is very low, perhaps only 10%. As we all know; Comet, DSG ect. make their money from selling warranties (lots of profit). You're far more likely to get a free warranty (please don't bring up Sales of Good Act...) thrown in than you are to get a money off discount. This isn't always the case, but should be the rule0
