Honfleur Weekend

Wife and I are spending a weekend in Honfluer, Normandy December 5th - 7th staying in the Mecure Hotel. Travelling from Portsmouth to Le Harve with the car. Anyone know of good things to do or see / recommend places to eat.

Thanks

Honfleur is a beautiful place. We eat there about 5 times per year and have never had a bad meal. The food is reasonably priced but wine is not. You can just ask for tap water and they legally have to provide it for free (but leave a nice tip). You have a little walk into the main town area from where you are staying but if you want to drive in it costs 2 euros all day to park. There are lots of art galleries you can look round.
You could drive quite easily to Deauville and walk along the seafront (very bracing) and you could on the same day drive to Pont L'Eveque - where they make the cheese.
You are only around 40 mins drive from Caen where there is the Memorial and other World War 2 museums etc and a bit further on are the D-Day landing beaches.
I hope you have a lovely time.

Where did you park all day for two euros? We nearly twice that for two hours.

There's an interesting Sunday market in Trouville but don't have coffee by the river...most expensive we had during ten weeks in france this summer!

If you go over the bridge where all the camper vans park and the entrance to the car park is there. You just have to walk over the wooden bridge to the harbour area.
